Whoa. That came fast. I’m writing this from my hotel room in Arlington, VA (actually only about a mile from my apartment) where I just finished staging (orientation). I should be sleeping because we are checking out of the hotel at 3:30 AM, but who can sleep on a night like tonight?
Staging was good. It was 7 or so hours of learning what to expect, ice breakers and paperwork. It is funny, though. The nervous energy was tangible in the room and at dinner. We all agonized over what our “last meal” should be (I had a tasty chicken wrap for all who are curious) and talked about what we’ve heard about Guatemala. I’m sure all of our assumptions and expectations will seem silly soon, but it was fun.
Tomorrow, we leave around 8:30 AM and have a short layover in Miami, then land in Guatemala tomorrow afternoon. Wow.
Ok, the hotel bed is calling my name. See ya in Guatemala!!

Yey!!!!! I am sooooo excited for you! And a little jealous too – wish I were getting on a plane headed for Honduras. I have a strong feeling that the next time we are together will not be in North American soil. (Remember you are NORTH American, not American.)

Good luck Carolyn. We can’t wait to hear more about this big adventure. It was so good to see you in NV. Keep that positive attitude and soak up all you can.
