That wasn’t so bad…

For a minute, I’m going to forget the sleepless nights reading blogs and posts about the Peace Corps.  I’m going to pretend I never complained to friends about how I was never going to find out where I was going.  And I’m going to say, that wasn’t so bad….

…because I got that beautiful blue kit today.

I’m headed to Guatemala in August to be a Marketing Facilitator in the Sustainable Agriculture program.

After smiling nonstop for the last 5 hours and spending much too much time on the phone, I’m exhausted.  I still haven’t even attempted all of the information in the kit, but I’ll get to it.

But for those of you waiting to get an invite, it really is that bad.  It’s rough waiting for the invite to come – looking at a calendar every day to measure the 6 week deadline even though it’s just a day closer than yesterday.  I get it.  Hang in there!

Anybody else headed to Guatemala?

Congrats! I thought I was on a quick ticket outta here (supposed October nomination) but things are looking like they are going to slow down a bit (medical holds) sooo, I’m now looking at that wait you’re talking about! It’ll be tough, but I know in the end it’ll be worth it!

Incredibly jealous of you … I would LOVE to be invited to Central/South America somewhere, but I don’t think that’s in my cards! You’ll have an amazing experience. Good luck!

Lindsay – I never really spoke with the PO but her initials are L.B. Same one? :)

Kylene – Good luck with the journey through the application process and thank you for the well wishes!

Happened upon your blog from PC Wiki…and you’re right…it IS that bad waiting :(

If I may ask, how long did it take for you to get medical clearance??

    thanks!

The waiting is really hard. My medical clearance process was fairly painless. It took about 3 months, but I didn’t have to get any additional tests or information from the doctor. Good luck with everything!!
